Headline: Govt, SBCS in wrangle over GATE 20 million-

The Govt and a private institution fighting over GATE funds, whats next? Each is accusing the other of improper conduct. With the sums that are quoted something wrong, someone is involved in some form of mischief.

This was bound to happen, for years the major tertiary institution in Trinidad and Tobago operated without proper international standards attached to their courses. Institutions such as SBCS, SAMS and many others were born out of such negligence and were for many the preferred choice for the career driven individual. Fraud or no fraud, this might even be the tip of the ice berg, the failure of education authorities during the 1980's and 1990's has all led these institutions being sought as the preferred choice, because of offerings for advancement. This situation may have been avoided if we took our education system a lot more seriously sooner rather than later.

Now we can only hope that this does occupy the realm of the politicians and all that goes along with them. We need greater diligence by our gatekeepers so incidents such as this can never again occur. Protection of our future is the question at hand, are we to turn a blind eye or chart a course of progress?

What's your take?
Good day!
